By now, everyone, fans and not, are waiting for the announcement of the Golden State Warriors signing or trading. Changes to the Dubs roster are no longer an ‘if’ now. It is a matter of ‘when’. The blatantly obvious struggles and the Steve Kerr drama, however subtle the franchise tries to make of it, are signs that at least one major trade will happen before February 8th.

Moreover, it seems like there is going to be a potential “philosophical” change to the team, as per Tim Kawakami of The Athletic.

“There has been some talk about maybe just go get a 7-footer who can score,” he said, as reported by The Bay Area Sports station.

Karl-Anthony Towns is one 7-footer who has long been associated with GSW. KAT was supposed to be the face of the Minnesota Timberwolves. But injuries and not finding a suitable partner for him led the Wolves to turn to the young Anthony Edwards to take the franchise forward.

With Edwards in the lead, it looks like the 28-year-old forward-center has found a rhythm in his game. Averaging 21.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists on a free throw percentage of 89.9, the Dominican native is a force to reckon on scoring and landing three-point shots.

Pair him with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson and you have got arguably the three best shooters in the front line itself. While there might be conversations to be had regarding Thompson, it’s safe to assume that it won’t happen in the coming trade deadline.

The addition of another All-Star to the team can prove too much for opponents looking to throw everything at the Dubs to stop their threes. Standing 7’0 at 248 pounds with a 7’4 wingspan, defenders will have a hard time stopping Karl-Anthony Towns. Another possible candidate could be Nikola Vučević.

A 6’10 Montenegrin center, Nikola Vučević is a 2x All-Star. A potential candidate during the 2022 off-season, Vucevic was a person of interest for the Warriors. But of course, no deal happened. And now, the trade rumors are picking up again.

One of the most underrated centers, the 2011 draft pick is one of the most well-rounded players in the league. His skills in posting up, scoring threes, defending in the paint, and perimeter guarding are all on a competent level. In his 12 seasons in the NBA, the 33-year-old has been consistent in putting up numbers on the sheet as well.

And consistency is one of the many things the Dubs can do with right about now. Of course, anyone not named Stephen Curry is on the trade list. So, we can expect some exciting changes soon!

“Not only is there more to life than basketball, there’s a lot more to basketball than basketball” - Jackson had a simple philosophy when he was coaching the Lakers. He wanted everyone to succeed and grow in the service of something bigger than themselves. This is what struck me the most.
