Stephen Curry will always be grateful to Davidson for believing in him when the rest of the world looked down. “So I don’t know if I’d be the same player,” Steph remarked on his college during an episode of Hot Ones. Hence in reciprocation, Steph never fails to show gratitude to his alma mater whenever the opportunities crop up. And even without them, he has used his Under Armour partnership to pay homage.

For Friday’s Warriors vs Pacers game, Curry wore the “Davidson PE of the Curry 4 Flowtro Lows” with March Madness in full swing. Footwear enthusiast Nick DePaula tweeted the kicks on his X account in reply to a fan’s curiosity about the point guard’s wear. The shoes, adorning low knit and leather upper are designed for for traction, comfort, and control. “Breathable, and strategic,” the brand calls them.

The first time Under Armour launched a Davidson colorway shoe was in 2016. The Under Armour Curry 3 was known as TCC, standing for the Davidson motto of Trust, Care, and Commitment. It showcased Davidson’s signature color red along with elements of gray and black. But Steph’s ultimate tribute to Davidson College was through his documentary, “Stephen Curry: Underrated”.

When every scout and college didn’t so much as give Stephen Curry the time of their day, Davidson looked beyond Curry’s slim frame and short stature. The North Carolina-based liberal arts college has never boasted any basketball prodigies or any talented players. His documentary details every aspect of his time at Davidson, which is why it is rightly described as “an authentic love letter to Davidson basketball.” While he didn’t particularly dominate the games in his college, Steph’s shooting took wings here. “…the brand of basketball that I play now was predicated on a system that Davidson College [and] coach Bob McKillop mastered, and the only reason I think I’m successful at it is I got to learn with reps,” the point guard iterated on Hot Ones.

In his three seasons with the Wildcats, Curry won 2 Southern Player of the Year awards. He also averaged 25.3 points, 3.7 assists, and 4.5 rebounds during his time in Davidson. He was also the NCAA single-season record-holder for the most three-pointers until this year. Liberty guard Darius McGhee had tied with Steph’s 162 treys last season, but Iowa’s Caitlin Clark broke the record this season with 164 triples. But during that time, Stephen Curry was an enigma. His brilliance in college saw him enter the NBA as the seventh overall pick in 2009.
