The New York Knicks are having a great season so far. With a record of 29 wins and 17 losses, the team is currently fourth in the Eastern Conference boasting a six-game winning streak. However, one of their star player Julius Randle suffered a massive blow during their win against the Miami Heat on Saturday. In the final minutes of the game, the 2x All-Star was driving toward the basket when the Heat rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. tried to block him, which caused Randle to suffer a heavy fall.

Because of this, he dislocated his shoulder and was quickly taken back to the locker room. Eventually, he was ruled out of the Knicks’ upcoming game against the Charlotte Hornets, which frightened the fans of the Big Apple. Fans thought he would be out for the rest of the season, just like Ja Morant. However, the player underwent an MRI later, which provided a sigh of relief for the Knicks fans as it showed that Randle had not incurred any major damage but would be out for weeks.

In their last 10 matches, the Knicks have managed to win 8 with the 29-year-old center being a crucial part of the team. He has been averaging 24 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5 assists per game. Randle being out for weeks will definitely affect the performance of the New York Knicks as they will have to change their strategies and lineup to accommodate his replacement.

As the New York Knicks prepare to meet the Hornets, the focus is on potential replacements for the injured Julius Randle and one of the names that comes up in that discussion is Precious Achiuwa. Achiuwa has made tremendous progress in blending himself into the team, with noticeable improvements in playing time and performance. In a recent spectacular effort against his previous team, the Toronto Raptors, Achiuwa, scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. His strong offensive rating of 115.4 and solid defensive rating of 90.4 demonstrate his improving presence on both sides of the floor.

However, if he does not work out, the Knicks have an option to look for potential replacements for Randle as there are still 10 days left for the NBA trade deadline. Harrison Barnes, Miles Bridges, and Bruce Brown are some of the players who are available for trade discussions and can be a great replacement for Randle. But, the Knicks want to strike a balance by keeping enough tradeable contracts and assets with them for the 2024 summer and beyond.
