The New York Knicks are currently looking for a strategic upgrade ahead of the approaching trade deadline. And due to their good luck, they find themselves in a fascinating situation. According to sources, the Miami Heat finalized a trade with the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday morning, acquiring Terry Rozier. In return for him, they gave up a 2027 first-round selection and Kyle Lowry. However, after this deal was finalized, rumors were that the Queen City was interested in trading Lowry and an NBA insider confirmed that news saying, “Hornets will be an interesting follow for the buyout market.”

He also added that the head coach of the Knicks Tom Thibodeau, has shown his fondness for these seasoned players and may see this as a perfect opportunity to improve the Knicks’ playoff odds. Due to that, the Knicks have an opportunity to acquire Kyle Lowry and Gordon Hayward from the Hornets.

The insider even proposed a hypothetical deal that might work out where the Big Apple will trade Evan Fournier, Quentin Grimes, and recently the acquired Malachi Flynn from Toronto to the Hornets in exchange for the seasoned veterans.

However, Lowry is not having a great season at all and is averaging only 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. But due to his experience of playing in the playoffs and his leadership skills, he might be a valuable addition to the Knicks’ squad. On the other hand, Hayward is a versatile attacker who can score as well as create opportunities for his teammates. He is averaging 14.5 points and 4.6 assists per game. But why are the Knicks looking to rebuild their squad so desperately?
