The Las Vegas Raiders are looking for a new head coach. The Raiders’ 2023 NFL season was a roller coaster of emotions. They had an underwhelming 3-5 start to the season under the leadership of head coach Josh McDaniels. The Raiders fired McDaniels in October after the disappointing start. The reins of the team were given to Antonio Pierce, who became the Raiders interim head coach for the rest of the season. Pierce turned their season around and went 5-4 for the remainder of the season.

Although the Raiders’ late run was not enough to get them to the playoffs, it made the search for a new head coach for them a lot easier. Even superfan Damian Lillard made a dire request to the Raiders hours after the Maxx Crosby bomb.

Damian Lillard’s suggestion for a new head coach

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard made his pick for the Las Vegas Raiders’ new head coach by sharing a post on his Instagram story. He shared a post by Warren Griffin that said, “Hire coach Antonio Pierce ASAP!!” Pierce won the hearts of all the football fans after his incredible work as the Raiders interim head coach. Lillard’s request came hours after Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby dropped a bomb on his team. Crosby claimed he would request a trade if Pierce is not hired as a full-time Raiders head coach.

Apart from Pierce, the Raiders are reportedly considering Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh for the coaching job. But Crosby’s claim might have made the decision for the Raiders very easy as they would not want to lose their star player.

Antonio Pierce turned the Raiders season around when they were struggling to win games. He led the Raiders to a legendary Christmas Day win against Patrick Mahomes and Co. that won the entire nation’s hearts. Maxx Crosby revealed why he loved playing under Pierce, “When you have the right culture, a guy like A.P. that embraces the history of the Raiders, it’s special.” Pierce might have become the frontrunner for the Raiders head coaching job because of Crosby’s comments. And he also deserves the job because of his accolades and knowledge of the game.

Pierce is a former linebacker for the New York Giants who helped them win a Super Bowl during his career. There have been reports about some other teams, including the Tennessee Titans, showing interest in the former Super Bowl Champion for the head coaching job. But Pierce might also pick the Raiders if they offer him the job because of the incredible work he has done with them this season.
