When the movie Semi-Pro came out in 2008, it took the basketball world by storm. Semi-Pro was a basketball comedy film starring comedian Will Ferrell, and his iconic character ‘Jackie Moon’ left the audience in splits. Several NBA superstars also fell in love with Will Ferrell’s character in the movie. The Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson even dressed up as Jackie Moon for the Halloween game in 2018. Klay had a fan moment during the 2021-22 season when Will Ferrell showed up at the Warriors’ pre-game warmup dressed up as Jackie Moon. Klay and Ferrell shared a memorable moment as the Semi-Pro star helped Klay during the warmups, and the two got some shots up before the game.

19 months after Klay and Ferrell’s iconic practice session, Will Ferrell was spotted with a $304 million rich NBA Superstar. The fans could not hide their excitement seeing Jackie Moon befriending one of the biggest stars in the NBA.

Fans go crazy as Will Ferrell befriends another NBA Superstar

University of South Carolina alum Will Ferrell was in attendance to watch his alma mater’s football team go head-to-head against Coach Prime’s Colorado Buffaloes. He left the arena happy as the USC Trojans remained undefeated, beating the Colorado Buffaloes 48-41. Boston Celtics superstars Jaylen Brown and Derrick White were also present to witness the thrilling encounter. The Celtics players met the Semi-Pro star during the game and clicked a picture together. The Boston Celtics shared the image on their Instagram, “Did they just become best friends?”

The picture left the NBA world in a frenzy as fans had a lot to say about Jackie Moon’s return to the basketball world. A fan claimed Will Ferrell would be the one to lead the Celtics to their 18th Championship, “Will Ferrell Gonna lead us to banner 18”. Fans were elated by the return of Jackie Moon and hoped to see him coming out of retirement, “JACKIE MOON…. Greatest basketball promoter ever!” and “Jackie Moon coming out of retirement”.  A fan even asked the Celtics to sign him, “Y’all signing Jackie Moon??” The NBA world was also surprised at how tall Will Ferrell was as he was standing shoulder to shoulder with 6’6” Jaylen Brown, “I didn’t know Will Ferrell is that tall.”
