The Warriors are struggling! They have lost eleven of their last fourteen games and dropped to the tenth spot in the West standings. Moreover, Jonathan Kuminga’s future has become a major point of concern. While many expected him to take a giant leap and turn into a superstar, he has had a hard time finding a permanent role in Steve Kerr’s rotation. And Bay Area’s media veteran Dan Devone is urging the Warriors to part ways with Kuminga before it’s too late, even getting the nod from Dub Nation.

Addressing Kuminga’s future with the team, Devone said, “Jonathan Kuminga, to me, is a trade piece. If the Warriors don’t trade him and we continue down this path, that’s a huge miss.”

Well, the Warriors are desperately seeking another star in the trade block to pair alongside Stephen Curry. However, Mike Dunleavy’s obsession to keep the young core intact and not trade JK has led to many failed pursuits. First, they missed out on acquiring big man Lauri Markkanen because they reportedly did not want to trade away Brandin Podziemski and Kuminga in exchange. Then, the same thing happened when they went after Paul George.

Even during the recent Dennis Schroder trade, they were initially pursuing a potential Cam Johnson combination in the same deal. However, their reluctance to trade Kuminga reportedly forced them to shift their focus to only one player. It’s clear that acquiring a big-name star will require giving up Kuminga and other young assets. And recent reports suggest that the Warriors might have switched their stance on JK’s ‘untradable’ status.

Moreover, Dub Nation seems to agree with Devone’s plea to trade Kuminga as comments like “Absolutely and he sure as hell won’t fill seats like Steph, Klay, or Dray. Poole may of but not JK. No heart for it. 10 games a year plays great and missing 72” and “I agree. It’s time to move on. We need a trade” began flooding in.

Well, the fan claimed that Jordan Poole might have had that potential to attract the crowd like the Warriors’ Big Three. After all, he was a key part in the team’s title run two years ago. However, fans do not seem to have the same faith in Kuminga because of his inconsistent performances.

Dub Nation accuses Warriors’ Front office of “Dropping The Ball” with Jonathan Kuminga last year

As the five-time Emmy award winning sportscaster’s plea caught fire, netizens also brought up Kuminga’s expiring contract as one wrote, “Yes, he needs to go. He’s not gonna re-sign anyway so might as get something for him.” Yes, JK and the Warriors did not ink a contract extension before this year’s deadline. That’s because he was reportedly eyeing a $35 million annual salary while the franchise was not willing to offer more than $30 million. And many believe he might leave next year if he gets a better offer somewhere else.

Obviously, fans want the Warriors to trade him and get something in exchange rather than losing him for nothing in free agency. Meanwhile, some netizens believe Kuminga is past his peak market value as they wrote “His highest value was last season. @warriors front office is dropping the ball. #DubNation” and “Old a** news and his value sinks every game. Should have traded him last year.”

Well, Kuminga averaged a career-high 16.1 points last year and showed immense potential. However, his numbers have dropped to 15.4 points this season and he has constantly struggled to find his rhythm. Although he seems like a decent piece for the future, the Warriors need to trade him if they want to win now with Steph still playing at a high level. Do you agree?
