Only after a few hours, the 2024 NBA Draft will be history. With a barren off-season ahead, there’s only one thing left to look forward to; The Paris Olympics. The USAB men’s team is leaving for France with a squad comparable to the Dream Team. LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant’s trident are only the tip of the iceberg for the USAB men. But will Kawhi Leonard be among the ranks?

After missing the final eight regular season games for the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard only appeared twice in the post-season. Since then, the 2-time NBA champion has been on the treatment table. While Leonard did not pick up any new injury, the inflammation from his previous ACL injury kept him away from the court. With only a week to the start of training camp, a big question mark is dangling over Leonard’s participation.

According to Tomer Azarly of Clutchpoints, Leonard is finally ready for a comeback. “Kawhi Leonard has been working out for several weeks in preparing for Team USA’s camp.  They’ve been monitoring him and been in touch with Kawhi and his people and expect him to be ready to go next week,” Azarly wrote.

Steve Kerr and his coaching team have been in contact with Leonard throughout the past few weeks. Now they are hopeful that Leonard will be fit for the event. Derrick White‘s name is in discussion as a last-minute replacement as well, so there’s no shortage of options for Kerr. Leonard’s return will prove to be a significant boost for the USAB team. With LeBron James potentially going to his final Olympics, he wouldn’t mind an extra helping hand or two.

This will be the first time LeBron and Curry will team up for the USAB and the fans are understandably going bananas. The USAB is going in the hunt for their 5th straight Olympic Gold and there’s no illusion about them being strong favorites. While the comparison with Chuck Daly’s side keeps adding hype over the LeBron-Curry link-up does not seem to be a mouthwatering prospect to a former NBA champion.

Former NBA Champion Not Impressed With LeBron James’ Superteam Forming Potential

LeBron James in his 21-year career never left a shadow of doubt about his celestial talent. But now at the dying embers of his career, the scrutiny has increased a fewfold. The latest one to join the list is former Warriors star Andre Iguodala.

During a recent episode of the Point Forward podcast, Iguodala made a surprising remark about the 20-time NBA All-Star. When his co-host Evan Turner named LeBron and Curry’s match-up a super team, Iguodala scoffed. “Bron’s 40 years old. So, I’m not considering that a super team..Because our superteam was like, man, we can play B- we still gonna win. We can play C+, we still gonna win,” the 40-year-old said.

While Iguodala put Steph and LeBron’s team in perspective with the Warriors’ championship-winning team, the sheer aura of the duo is enough to put them in the realms of super teams. LeBron James may not be at the peak of his physical robustness, but his attention to self-care is second to none. His frequent social media posts prove that he’s either at home or working out. Now with the secret weapon developed by Nike, LeBron and his Olympic mates have an edge over their opponents. And Kawhi Leonard’s addition to that will only make it scarier.
