The Paris Olympics 2024 is scheduled to take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024. With so many talented players in the NBA, the selection process will be as tough as it comes. To select just 12 out of them is even harder. What makes this year’s Olympics so important is probably that it will be the last time some of the key players of this generation will represent the USA.

Until then, let’s take a look at some of the top candidates who have expressed their interest.

Potential candidates for the Paris Olympics 2024

Aside from Mitchell, the list of players that have given the nod (if they were to be asked) ranges from Fred VanVleet to Bam Adebayo and then some.

LeBron James, who has been given the task of assembling the Team USA squad (fondly called ‘Team Avengers’), has also said that he is interested. 3x Olympic champion, Kevin Durant left no doubt as to his decision. He said it early, and he said it in a tone that suggested there wouldn’t be any further discussions on the topic.

Embiid might have given his assent, but according to ESPN, Team USA is “aggressively pursuing” All-Star guard Jrue Holiday. In a contradicting and somewhat hilarious situation, Holiday had said that he wasn’t aware of such an approach. But he did confirm his interest, if and when they asked him.
