They’ve done it again! After the Knicks made a miraculous 20-point comeback on Monday, many believed it had more to do with the Celtics’ shooting struggles than the New York team’s resilience. Jayson Tatum and Co. missed an NBA playoffs record 45 threes in the series opener. So, everyone expected them to shake off that rare terrible shooting night and bounce back in tonight’s Game 2. But Jalen Brunson’s squad proved that Monday’s outcome was not a fluke.

In a game that was eerily similar to the previous one, the Cs started out hot and took an early lead. They outscored the Knicks 24-13 in the opening quarter and it looked like they would cruise to an easy win. But the visitors made another shocking turnaround by going on a 21-2 run in the fourth quarter. Just like that, they took their first lead of the night with less than two minutes remaining. Finally, it all culminated with Brunson’s two clutch free throws to seal the game, taking the Knicks 2-0 up in the East Semis.

Hyped after their second straight comeback win in Boston, JB had a strong message for Jayson Tatum and Co., “We’re just gonna keep fighting. We just gotta keep each other in the locker room, focus on each other, focus on us, and just focus on one thing at a time.” Yes, the Knicks have proven that they will never back down, no matter how big the challenge. Even Jalen showcased that mentality with his performance.

Unlike the last game where he dropped a 29-piece, he was struggling to find his rhythm all night. But when it was time to get his team over the hump, Brunson showed once again why he was this season’s Clutch Player of the Year. Keeping his early shooting struggles at bay, the point guard took over in the fourth and it was his step back jumper on Jrue Holiday that got the Knicks their first lead. He then proceeded to hit the game winning buckets. But how did he do it?

Jalen Brunson reveals mindset during clutch free throws as he highlights focus after Game 2 win

Before Jalen’s game winning free throws, he had shot 6 of 19 from the field and scored just 15 points. But there was never a doubt in his mind while he was standing at the charity stripes. Despite the deafening boos from the Boston crowd, the superstar came in clutch and scored the two most important points of the game. He later revealed his mindset in that moment, “I got up there, heard the noise and then I just tried to block everything out and then made two.”

What’s your perspective on:

Are the Knicks proving they're the real deal, or are the Celtics just choking under pressure?

Have an interesting take?

Well, that’s exactly what great players do – block out the noise and focus on the task at hand. “I don’t know but I am just happy we find a way to win. That’s some wild stuff right there.” JB added. Now, he is moving on to the next goal, “And now we focus on Game 3.” No one expected the Knicks to beat the reigning champs twice in their own home court. However, now that its done, Jalen Brunson and Co. have the golden opportunity to finish the series in New York and move on to the next. All they need to do is win the next two games at MSG. But Jayson Tatum and Co. are unlikely to go down without a fight. Do you think the Knicks can pull off the biggest upset of these playoffs by sweeping the reigning champs?
