The Warriors-Rockets showdown on Wednesday wasn’t just a battle on the scoreboard—it sparked a heated debate over dirty tactics. In a moment that quickly went viral, Dillon Brooks appeared to zero in on Stephen Curry’s injured thumb while contesting a shot. Even the broadcasters didn’t hold back, calling it out live on air. And instead of denying it, Brooks doubled down after the game. “I’m playing the game… If I had an injured ankle, I would attack that ankle every single time,” he said unapologetically. Like it or not, the NBA’s ultimate agitator isn’t backing down.
Well, as long as the Rockets are playing within the rules, they are unlikely to tone down their attack on Curry’s thumb. Sure enough, this strategy has somewhat compromised the Baby-Faced Assassin’s health. Veteran insider Shams Charania revealed Steph’s frustration of playing with the lingering injury, “What he deals with is irritation at times. And it’s really whenever that thumb gets hit.”
The irritation has also reflected in his recent performance. In the past two games, his scoring average has dropped to 15 points. And Curry played his worst game of this series on Wednesday, scoring just 13 points on 4 of 12 shooting. But this is no time to dwell on the past, as the Warriors have an opportunity to close out the series tonight.

So, Steph is not letting his focus waiver because of the Rockets’ controversial strategy. Charania continued, “Now this is a contact sport, that’s a part of it. He knows that and I spoke to some Warriors sources today and they told me that Stephen Curry is fine. He’s fine enough to play. He’s not even on our injury report.”
Shams on Steph’s thumb:

The insider also revealed Curry’s message to the Warriors’ locker room ahead of Game 6, “I’m told Stephen Curry has told people around the Warriors and people around him even this week that ‘Yeah it hurts, but I’m not talking about this. I’m not here to discuss this. I’m here to just play. I’m just playing on this. I’m just playing through it.’ And that’s his mentality.”
So, don’t expect Steph to slow down just because Dillon Brooks and Co. are trying to exploit his weakness. “He’s just gonna continue to play on. I do expect him to get that reexamined after the season, but right now Stephen Curry, he is not using that as an excuse. He doesn’t even wanna talk about it.” Shams added. Obviously, Steve Kerr also continues to have faith in his beloved superstar.

Is targeting Curry's thumb fair play or a dirty tactic? Where do you draw the line?

Steve Kerr sends clear message to Warriors locker room ahead of Game 6
Although Steph is playing this series hurt, with a golf ball size bulge on his knuckle, he is still the Warriors’ primary offensive weapon. Sure, he hasn’t played up to his standard in the last two games, but that doesn’t mean Kerr will stop running his offense through him. In fact, the head coach has made his strategy for tonight’s Game 6 extremely clear. If your name is not Stephen Curry or Jimmy Butler: “Feed them.”

Yes, Kerr is putting all his chips on his two superstars for tonight. He wants every Warriors player to look for Steph and Jimmy, so that they can take care of the scoring. At this point, Kerr is taking no chances by keeping any secrets. Well, the message is not surprising because Jimmy and Steph have carried the Warriors ever since they joined forces back in February. Even in this series, the duo has done a solid job except for Wednesday’s game.

With tonight being the final home game of this series, Warriors will be desperate to close it out in Chase Center. Because if they lose for the second straight time, the pressure will mount on them heading to Houston for Game 7. And as they say, anything can happen in Game 7. Do you think Steph and Jimmy can finish the job tonight?
