“Just know, the Boogeyman is coming back to town to call the game.” Reggie Miller sent a public warning to Knicks fans when he returned to MSG last year to call the East Semis series against the Pacers. Although it has been two decades since Miller hung up his boots, he is still one of the most hated sports figures in New York. That’s because the Pacers legend gave them a lifetime of unpleasant memories during their epic playoff battles in the 90s.
Even though Miller’s playing days are over and he has moved on to a broadcaster role on TNT, many believe he still has an open bias against the Knicks, especially when they are facing the Pacers. After Tyrese Haliburton and Co. won the first two East Finals games at MSG, Reggie was clearly one of the happiest people on the floor, apart from the Pacers players. He was even spotted singing, “I’m going back to Indiana. Indiana’s where I’m from!” in the tunnel as the series moved to Indiana for Games 3 and 4.
Naturally, Knicks fans are not pleased to see Miller announcing the East Finals games, considering his history with both franchises. Turns out, TNT is catching the brunt of the criticism for allowing it to happen, as one netizen wrote during tonight’s Game 4, “It’s still extremely laughable that TNT has Reggie Miller call Pacers games, especially in the playoffs. Imagine if ESPN had Patrick Ewing calling Knicks playoff games. The outrage would be crazy.”

Of course, Ewing was the biggest Knicks superstar during the 90s and arguably the greatest player in franchise history. He wreaked havoc on the Pacers the same way Miller did on the New York team. Surely, no Pacers fan would prefer Ewing on the mic while both teams go head-to-head in the biggest stage. That’s the same sentiment Knicks fans want to convey to TNT for putting Miller on their broadcast team. However, a series of events during tonight’s game even had Reggie favoring the Knicks against his former team.
Knicks fans deem Reggie Miller “awful” amid questionable officiating in Game 4 vs Pacers
With the Pacers leading all night and Reggie calling the game, tonight’s TNT broadcast was truly a nightmare for Knicks fans. Sure enough, calls immediately began mounting against the Hall of Famer, as comments like “I don’t find Reggie Miller so biased in these games, I just find him to be awful” and “Reggie Miller is commentating like a Pacers fan” began flooding in.
What’s your perspective on:
Does Reggie Miller's commentary bring back the 90s rivalry, or is it just biased nostalgia?

What made things even worse for New York fans is that the officiating was also not going in their favor. While Jalen Brunson and Co. tried to muscle a comeback, there were constant whistles and foul calls halting their momentum. It frustrated the fans even more, as one wrote, “My tv is off. F— those refs. F— Reggie Miller. F— Indiana” while another said, “This Knicks game is unwatchable between the refs and Reggie Miller.”

At one point, the Knicks got called for four consecutive fouls in a span of twelve seconds. Officiating bias or not, it surely hurt them and led to their eventual 9-point loss. The situation was so bad that even Reggie called out the officials on Live TV, questioning their foul calls on the Knicks. One netizen pointed it out, writing, “You know it’s f—— bad when Reggie Miller is agreeing that the officiating is horrible right now.”

So far, this entire series has been an unpleasant experience for Knicks fans. Now that their team is down 3-1 following tonight’s loss, their historic season could end this Thursday at MSG. Sure enough, Reggie Miller will be there to call that game as well even if Knicks fans don’t want him to. What are your thoughts?
