“I pray this nightmare ends soon!” Even LeBron James was left helpless in front of nature’s wrath as the LA Wildfires spread to Brentwood. Yes, the same area where he lives with his family in his multi-million-dollar mansion. As the Palisades fire moves northeast causing more urgent evacuations, the state authorities and firefighters are trying everything in their capacity to stop it from spreading. On Saturday night, they launched aerial aid, trying to prevent the flames from hitting Brentwood and Encino.

Apart from LBJ, the Brentwood area also houses Presidential candidate Kamala Harris, among thousands of other locals. Seeing their homes under threat of going up in flames as the fires raged through the hills, left people completely devastated. Comments like “This is beyond heartbreaking. It’s devastating for the people who have lost everything” and “This is the wildest thing I’ve ever seen. So scary,” began flooding in on social media.

Unfortunately, the catastrophe has already claimed thirteen lives. Moreover, it is on track to be the costliest wildfire in American history, with an expected loss of over $135 billion. That number could scaringly go even higher as the flames are showing no signs of stopping. However, the wind speed has gone down significantly, which is a good sign. Meanwhile, authorities continue their effort to contain the fires as the federal Government, multiple neighbouring states, and even Canada have rushed aerial aid for LA by dropping water and fire retardant on the blazing hills, hoping to stop it from causing any more destruction.

In the past five days, the wildfires have already burned down the homes of several members of the NBA, including JJ Redick, who lost his Palisades home that he had been renting with his family. Even Steve Kerr’s childhood home, which his parents bought in 1969, was completely destroyed with the gazillion memories. And now, LeBron’s $23.5 million mansion could be in danger.

Moreover, LBJ has gone through something similar in the past. Yes, it was six years ago, during the California fires, that he was forced to evacuate his home with his family. He even tweeted about it that night, “Man these LA fires aren’t no joke. Had to emergency evacuate my house and I’ve been driving around with my family trying to get rooms. No luck so far!”

Fortunately, they reached safety in time, and no one was hurt. But this time, the situation is much worse as one netizen pointed out, “The whole LA is gone atp wtf.” And if it wasn’t for the firefighters and first responders, things would have been much worse…
