The Golden State Warriors might be in for a turnaround as Draymond Green is coming in stronger than ever. The 33-year-old talented forward served a 12-game suspension for smacking the Suns guard Jusuf Nurkic in the face and is reinstated in the NBA. The veteran has been going through therapy to rectify his actions and even spoke about it on his podcast.

He said that going to therapy is a lot of work, but he is “enjoying that work”. DrayMagic even shed light on what he did during this indefinite suspension and how it helped him champion a change he needed to for a long time.

Draymond Green gives the positive side of the suspension

Draymond Green spoke about his suspension situation on “The Draymond Green Show,” and shared how the suspension benefited him. He explained, “For the first time in 17 years, I got to spend the holiday weeks with my family. So I am thankful for this time, not because I didn’t do anything wrong, I did. But I think this has been a blessing in disguise for me to center myself, recalibrate, grow, and champion this change.”

He further spoke about his love for basketball and how he likes to compete, calling his incident with Nurkic “an antic.” So after going to therapy, he has realized his issues and is making an effort to work on them. Green explicitly even said that going to therapy for 3 weeks does not mean that he is great and back to normal, because that is not how therapy works. However, he said that now that he knows his issues, he can work on them and is happy with the progress he is making.

But as Green spoke about the positives of therapy, he even spoke about how his mentality was before that. After getting suspended for the third time this season, the 4x NBA champion almost made up his mind about retiring from the NBA. However, after having a conversation with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, Green decided otherwise and chose to work on himself.

Draymond Green also revealed the conversation he had with Adam Silver. He spoke about how he went to the NBA Commissioner with the willingness to retire and quit the league. Listening to the pain and desperation in his voice, Silver advised him not to make any rash decisions that would hamper his future in the sport that he loves so much. This interaction changed the way Green approached his problems and decided to undergo therapy and work on himself to be the best version of himself.

The Warriors forward voiced his appreciation for having a commissioner like Silver, calling him someone who is more concerned with assisting players rather than punishing them. Although Green is now eligible to return upon his reinstatement, the Warriors will probably allow him time to acquire game form before reintroducing him into the lineup. But with the addition of the 4x All-Star, the Dubs will finally get the defensive strength they have been lacking all season and might even be able to just make a historical comeback.
