Sharing his excitement on Instagram, Chet Holmgren wrote, “Today was a bit of a dream come true for me. With the help of @jdsportsusand @okcthunder I was able to open the 1st of hopefully many basketball courts with the objective to give as many kids as possible access and opportunities to enjoy hoops. Address below, use it in good health OKC!”

Young Chet went on to reminisce about his own childhood, highlighting how access to public courts played an important role in his development. He even declared OKC as “my city,” emphasizing his sense of belonging and commitment to the community.

I feel like saying (my) city is appropriate because I feel like I’m a part of this city just as much as anybody else who’s lived here or grew up here,” Holmgren added, “I take pride in living here and living here the right way,” he added.

The beginning of a legacy

The 7-ft tall young talent’s impact extends far beyond this single court. Chet has quickly become one of the most talked-about rookies in the league, captivating fans and experts alike with his exceptional talent and work ethic. In his first season alone, he achieved the remarkable feat of dropping a career-high 36 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks against the Golden State Warriors, including a game-tying buzzer-beater that forced overtime.

This performance inked Chet’s name in the NBA record books, becoming only the second rookie in NBA history (following Michael Jordan) to achieve such a staggering stat line. Additionally, he stands alongside Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton as the only two players this season with 200+ points and 50/40/90 shooting splits.

Chet Holmgren is proving himself to be a force both on and off the court. His talent is undeniable, but his dedication to his community is truly inspiring. He is undoubtedly a rising star, well on his way to shattering records while simultaneously leaving a positive mark on “his city” and the world of balling.
