Spurs Injury Report: Is Victor Wembanyama Playing Thursday vs Kings?
Follow Us
Victor Wembanyama was humiliated last night by Houston Rockets Center Alperen Sengun. While the NBA World expected Wembanyama and Sengun to have a competitive duel, Sengun bullied the rookie and dropped a career-high 45 points on him. Sengun’s performance helped the Rockets come out with a 114-101 win over the Spurs. Meanwhile, Wembanyama had a disappointing outing, scoring only 10 points. Following the embarrassing loss, the Spurs are scheduled to face the Sacramento Kings tomorrow.
Unfortunately, Victor Wembanyama cannot redeem himself as he has been ruled out of Thursday’s game. The 20-year-old rookie is dealing with a right ankle sprain and will not suit up for the Kings clash. That is a massive blow for the Spurs, who are already at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. Despite Wembanyama’s historic rookie season, the Spurs are having an abysmal season. They have won only 13 games so far and have the worst record in the West.

Without Wembanyama in the lineup, the Sacramento Kings might blow past San Antonio on Thursday. The rookie has been by far the best player on the Spurs roster throughout the season. Wembanyama is averaging 20.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. He is also the frontrunner to win this year’s ROTY award. Not only is Wembanyama a great offensive player, but he is also a menace on defense. The 20-year-old is leading the league in blocks (3.4) as a rookie and is averaging 1.3 steals per game to go along with it. With Wemby out for tomorrow’s game, other players on the Spurs roster will need to step up to make the game competitive.
San Antonio Spurs need to start building around Victor Wembanyama
It is clear from Wembanyama’s rookie season performance that he is a generational talent. While many believed before the season started that Wemby was overhyped, the rookie has silenced the critics with his alienlike abilities. With only 20 games left in the regular season and no chance to make the playoffs, the Spurs front office needs to start planning the future. Now that Wembanyama has proved his worth, the Spurs need to surround him with the right pieces to build a Championship team.

Victor Wembanyama Injury Report: Spurs Dealt With Shocker Amid Astonishing Form of 20YO Frenchman
The Spurs currently do not have any star players except Wembanyama. This off-season will be crucial for their future as the right moves can elevate them to a playoff-level team next season. While the NBA has never seen a player like Wembanyama, there is usually a huge risk of injury with players of his height. Many 7-footers have historically had their careers shortened due to injuries. So, the Spurs need to capitalize on their Championship window while it is still open.
