It seems like all is not well with the Warriors franchise. When the latest news of Steve Kerr signing a contract extension was announced, all Golden State loyalists rejoiced. They were happy that a Kerr-Curry partnership would provide another championship in the next two seasons they are here.

But the latest comments of the Warriors’ coach might want you to put your celebrations on hold. Talking to the press post-game, Kerr, in response to the hefty deal, said, “Nothing has been signed, so Raymond has asked me to hold off on commenting on anything until an actual contract has been signed.”

Despite the uncertainty, Steve Kerr said that he is feeling really good about the whole situation. Kerr made it clear that he would most certainly love to continue as the Warriors coach. Yet, the terrible season that the Warriors are having cannot be dismissed.

Aside from the inconsistent performance, at one point, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody talked about their dissatisfaction with the roles and minutes. And they were directly related to Kerr’s decisions in-game. Add to it the fans clamoring for the man’s resignation, and now this; cause for concern can be understandable.

The reported contract – $17.5 million, ranks him as the highest-paid coach in NBA history. And with good reason, too. The 58-year-old coach won his 500th game recently and led the Dubs to a total of four championships under his tutelage. That itself speaks volumes.

Among the NBA coaches with more than 500 wins, only Phil Jackson, K. C. Jones, and Red Auerbach have a higher winning percentage than Kerr. Not to mention, his playoff statistics are also insane – .707 winning percentage puts him among the best. There are only six coaches who have more wins in the playoffs than Kerr. They include, once again, Jackson, Pat Riley, Gregg Popovich, Doc Rivers, Erik Spoelstra, and Larry Brown.
