The Phoenix Suns created one of the most lethal offensive teams in the league this summer. They added superstar Bradley Beal to a team that already had offensive weapons like Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. The NBA World instantly picked the Suns as one of the favorites to win the title this year. Unfortunately, Kevin Durant and Co. have been unable to live up to the expectations so far. They are currently 10th in the Western Conference standings, after losing five of their first nine games.

The Phoenix Suns’ problem so far

One big reason for the Phoenix Suns’ struggles early in the season has been injuries. Their three superstars have barely played any games together. Out of their Big 3, only Kevin Durant has played all 9 games for the Suns. Bradley Beal and Devin Booker have each played two games so far. The absence of their superstars has led to a lack of chemistry in the newly formed team.

Suns’ 27-year-old Forward Keita Bates-Diop elaborated on the issue during an interview, “We just got Brad back for the second game, Book’s been out. Kev’s been consistent, but lineups – I wasn’t playing, but now I’m playing. So it’s a lot of, not roster turnover, but just 4th-quarter turnover.” Apart from the Suns Big 3, Keita Bates-Diop has also missed three games this season. This inconsistency in the line-up is stopping the Suns from finding their rhythm and realizing their true potential.

The Phoenix Suns have shown glimpses of greatness

Although the Suns’ Big 3 has played very few games this season, they have shown signs of greatness whenever they have stepped on the court. Kevin Durant has been in incredible form, averaging 30.2 points and 6.9 rebounds. Booker and Beal have also shown great promise in the two games they have played. Booker scored a whopping 31.5 points and 10.5 assists per game in the two games, and Beal scored a respectable 18.5 points per game. The Phoenix Suns will be a force to be reckoned with once all three of their superstars return to the court in full health.
