Kyrie Irving excelled by posting a season-high 39 points in a high-octane clash against the Bucks. However, it wasn’t enough to propel the Dallas Mavericks past the Milwaukee Bucks, who won 132-125 on Saturday night. Although after securing 74 points together, Luka Doncic and Irving could not save their team. Although there were some weak performances in the team by Josh Green, the referee’s ruling was a big factor in the Mavs’ loss.

The game featured an epic battle between Irving and the reigning NBA champs and their star, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Both sides were trading baskets early on with spectacular performances from Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, Irving and Damian Lillard got off to sluggish starts for their respective teams, keeping the game close in the opening quarter. So when Irving was asked about bouncing back from a slow shooting start he said, “It’s basketball, so it’s a tale of two halves. I do my best not to get mentally bogged down or frustrated when the ball is not going in. Just trusting the work and coming out of halftime tonight.”

A remarkable change of events occurred in the fourth quarter as the Mavericks were finding it difficult to contain the Bucks’ offensive assault. They fought back and gained the lead with the Greek Freak’s free shots at the 5-minute mark. However, even after Irving and Doncic put up 74 points together, the Bucks hung on to win 132-125.

Despite a sensational 74-point combined performance from Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Dallas Mavericks fell against the Milwaukee Bucks. After leading 98-89 at the end of the third quarter, the Mavericks were outscored 43-27 in the fourth quarter showing the Bucks’ composure. The game’s major turning moment came in the fourth quarter when the Bucks received nine free throws in the last 5 minutes. Due to that, the Mavericks were unable to have any possession of the ball.

The new ruling style caused disputes, and Dallas couldn’t overcome the lack of clear calls in their favor. Despite doubtful decisions and no-calls, the Mavericks had other issues to deal with, most notably Josh Green’s disappointing performance. The fourth-year guard, who just inked a three-year, $41 million contract extension, managed to score only three points in 20 minutes. However, with many games in hand, Green has the opportunity to turn things around in his favor and so do the Mavericks.
