The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors are showcasing one of the best performances of this season. The Warriors seem to have gotten into a balanced attack formation as the veterans of the team are putting up some of the best numbers tonight. But with almost 20+ minutes gone with the shot clock issue, tonight’s game was equally frustrating and exceptional. Amid all of it, Stephen Curry was amazed at the whole absurdity.

Talking to reporters after the game, Curry didn’t hesitate to speak about the repercussions of such an incident. He said that you get warmed up during the pre-game workout and get going in-game, only to have the flow broken. Echoing similar sentiments to LeBron James, he said, “Especially at this age … It’s the worst thing that could have happened.” But for the Lakers, it was more than a shot-clock malfunction.

The team lost big man Anthony Davis in the first quarter with a left eye contusion. After halftime, it was confirmed that he wouldn’t be returning. And while the ‘Akron Hammer’ put up a dominant performance, he didn’t see much support from the team. Whatever help he did get came in the form of D’Angelo Russell (23 points, 13 assists, and three rebounds). Austin Reaves struggled throughout and Rui Hachimura did not get many open looks, leaving Bron with the lion’s share.

LBJ finished with 40 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. But a silver lining, if you can call it that, was he made history, surpassing Derek Fisher for 11th in the all-time assists list of the team. Suffice it to say that it was a thrillingly bizarre matchup. And Coach Kerr couldn’t agree more.

The Warriors coach shares his thoughts on the ‘unfortunate’ incident to an otherwise ‘great game’

It goes without saying that the post-game presser would naturally include questions about the shot-clock malfunction. Steve Kerr was also asked for his thoughts on the whole debacle and he felt it was the only black mark on what could have been a brilliant matchup. “It was unfortunate … it was a great game, but all of a sudden the last two minutes, everyone’s looking at each other wondering what to do.”

He further revealed that he wasn’t a fan of the rule that saw LeBron’s three being rescinded. Aside from obstructing the rhythm of the game, going back 45 or so seconds also erases all the efforts player(s) put into that short period. We all know how much difference a second can make in a basketball game.
