LeBron James has been around in the NBA for 20 seasons. Not only has he been around for this long but he has also dominated the game. He has won championships, and MVPs, and even broken multiple longstanding records. Now entering his 21st season, players as well as fans speculate that this might be the last year they get to witness the LeBron James magic.

But his former teammate had some different opinions about this matter. Patrick Beverley spoke about this on his, “The Pat Bev Podcast” and gave his insight on the matter.

Patrick Beverley gives his take on James’ commitment to the Lakers

In the past 20 seasons, James’ list of achievements kept on increasing. With 6 All-Defensive Team selections, 19 All-NBA Team appearances, and All-Rookie Team accolades, LeBron’s brilliance and defensive prowess have continuously astounded spectators. His three NBA All-Star Most Valuable Player titles and four NBA Finals Most Valuable Player trophies demonstrate his unequaled ability to thrive on the biggest stage. And even at the age of 38, LeBron is able to compete with the youngsters in the league.

Just because of his age, fans and analysts speculate that LeBron James is on the verge of retirement. Even on the Pat Bev Podcast, Patrick Beverley was asked if he thinks this is LeBron James’ last season.

He said, “I don’t think you can say that. I mean, you never know with Bron. You gotta think that this m*f***er Bron when we didn’t hoop around this m*f***er got ice on dunking. He’s different different, so like you can’t even put like whenever he want to stop.”

Even during the ESPYs, the entire basketball community thought that James was going to announce his retirement. But the Los Angeles Lakers forward made it apparent that he’s not ready to hang up his sneakers just yet. James posed a crucial question saying “Can I play without cheating this game?” And answered by saying, “The day I can’t give the game everything on the floor is the day I’ll be done. Lucky for you guys, that day is not today.”

LeBron James wants to play with his son once

All the fans and analysts speculate that James is not going to retire until he gets to play with his son Bronny James. As James has expressed on a few occasions, it is his dream to share the NBA court with his son. This sincere desire prompted LeBron to extend his contract with the Lakers, so that he can align it with Bronny’s eligibility for the NBA Draft in 2024.

While LeBron James has had tremendous success in the NBA, he recognizes that his kid will forge his own path. His desire to play with Bronny is very personal, but it is not a certainty. And as Bronny has just recovered from a major health risk, his playing on the court again was a big question a few days ago. But after his recovery, he is now ready to make his return. So, the fans might be right about James not retiring due to his wish to share the court with his son.
