For as long as we can remember, sneakers have been a huge part of the NBA culture. From the MJ and Kobe era to now current stars like Jayson Tatum and Luka Doncic, every great player looks forward to having their signature shoe. Tatum fulfilled that dream last year after Jordan released his first piece, Tatum 1. And with the 2nd rendition of the shoe releasing earlier this year, he wore the Tatum 2s in tonight’s Game 2 against the Pacers, but with a slight twist. Paying homage to WNBA star Dana Evans through his sneakers, Tatum even left the 25-year-old teary-eyed.

After he entered the floor, fans noticed the Celtics superstar wearing Dana Evans’ PE version of his Tatum 2 sneakers. With Dana’s DE11 logo on the tongue and draped in the red and black colors of Chicago, Dana’s favorite, his shoes were a great tribute to the Chicago Sky star. Seeing Jayson Tatum’s wholesome gesture on such a big stage, Dana couldn’t hold back her emotions. With a heart and teary-eyed emoji, Dana wrote, “perioddddd,” on X.

Just like Jayson Tatum, Dana is also a member of the Jordan family. Signing with them two years ago, along with that year’s #1 pick Rhyne Howard, Dana created history by becoming the first NBA or WNBA player to win a title in Chicago and sign with the Jordan brand since His Airness! “I was always a sneakerhead and now understanding that Jordans are a symbol of excellence and being a part of the Jordan Brand Family is everything I thought it would be and more,” Dana Evans said, after the historic signing.

Today wasn’t the first time for Dana Evans!

While JT wearing Dana’s PE sneakers in the Eastern Conference Finals was a sight to behold for the Chicago star, this is not the first time she has witnessed or done something similar. Just last year, during the final game of the WNBA regular season, Evans was spotted wearing the PE version of Jordan Luka 2s. Part of the signature line of Slovenian Sensation Luka Doncic, Evans’ PE version was named ‘The Intro’ and took the internet by storm.

Deeply passionate about sneakers since her childhood, Evans has always loved to express herself with her shoes on the court. Even after wearing the Luka PE version, she said, “It means a lot because I like to express myself on the court, whether that’s just having my nails, lashes or hair done, and now I’m able to do it through a shoe.” So, it will be another tick on the bucket list for her after watching her shoes being worn at a stage like the Conference Finals.

To add icing on the cake, Jayson Tatum dropped 23 points wearing Evans’ sneakers and led his team to a crucial victory. So, it will surely be a memorable day for both JT and Dana Evans for multiple reasons. Don’t you agree?
