Steve Kerr’s latest update on the availability of Andrew Wiggins has X (formerly Twitter) divided. While many showed concern for his situation, others downright questioned his absence at a crucial time in the team. Kerr revealed that Wiggins is dealing with a personal matter and cannot provide an exact date or timeline for his return.

He wasn’t present for the Wizards’ win and is listed as ‘out’ for Thursday’s game against the New York Knicks.

There is no doubt that Wiggs’ 2023-24 season has been dismal. Although he is playing better of late, his struggles were serious enough for the Warriors front office to consider trading him before the deadline. But, of course, what was expected to be a loud affair passed as quietly as possible.

Yet, it doesn’t seem like the fans are interested in staying quiet regarding his absence. The fact that he missed 22 games in the last year alone for personal reasons doesn’t help either.

The absence of Andrew Wiggins has the internet erupt in two extreme behaviors

One user was adamant about trading Wiggins in the off-season. “The Warriors 100% need to trade him,” is his belief. Although he has given props to Wiggins’ better performance recently, it is not enough for him to rely on him completely. He took it further by comparing the man to Converge Internet, a Philippines-based spotty internet service. There have been many complaints and negative reviews about the company’s unreliable service.

But not everyone feels the same. A Dub Nation loyalist and Kuminga fan called out others who are cruel in their assessment of Andrew Wiggins. “Instead of hating on Wiggs you should be supporting and sending prayers to him and his family,” the user said. He even went as far as to remind us of the incident where Wiggs had his girlfriend delay the labor so that he could play in a regular season game.

Another user brought the attention of viewers to another point. He says that the media loves to point out how Wiggs was never happy with Minnesota. But whenever he is on the floor with his Warriors, “he’s always laughing and hyping up his teammates.”

The fan concluded with the hope that the personal matters he’s dealing with are only temporary. But not everything can be peaches and cream. This next user wrapped up his feelings on the matter with two words and a bunch of question marks.

Pretty sure he is not alone in his sentiments. Finally, this user seemed to be trying to find the silver lining here (kind of?). He seemed to be quite happy that Wiggins’ absence would mean more game time for Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga.

Well, it is what it is. Kerr had clarified that he was not in a position to discuss what may be happening. Andrew had asked the franchise to keep his affairs private, and that was what they were going to do. So, anyone looking for behind-the-scenes action will have to wait.
