Draymond Green has been dealing with a lower back injury for the past few days, hindering his attendance against the Grizzlies earlier in the week. As he returned for a clash against the Pacers on Friday night, the injury seemed to persist to get the better of him. Green was subbed out in the third quarter and stayed on the bench before finally going to the locker room.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, “Draymond Green subbed out at the 7:10 mark of the third quarter and hasn’t been on the bench the last several minutes. Went to the locker room. He’s been banged up recently.”

It seems like whatever issue he faced either wasn’t too serious or he decided to play through the pain. Green was back on the bench during the timeout and finished the night with 11 points, six assists, and eight rebounds.

Apart from minor injuries expected in the career of a basketball player, there was only one major injury in Green’s life. As the veteran forward mentioned earlier, his back injury from the 2021-22 season seemed to be making life difficult for him. The Warriors already missed Green for a lot of games this season thanks to his on-court altercations and violent outbursts. To have to lose him to injury now seems to be the hammer-dropping for their playoff aspirations.

Unfortunately, even Dray’s return couldn’t pull them over the edge tonight as the Pacers crushed the Dubs 123-111.

The Pacers grab the setback window for opportunity

Tyrese Haliburton seemed to have gotten back to himself as he showcased a brilliant performance tonight. He had a game-high 26 points and 11 assists, along with two rebounds as Indiana managed to hold on to their play-in spot. Both teams started off strong, with Golden State finishing the first half 67-66. But after the third quarter, the Warriors were still in double digits as the Pacers moved to the final quarter 102-88.

Haliburton’s 11 points in the third proved to be key for the third-quarter surge. Not to mention, Draymond Green’s abrupt exit also happened in the third; impacting the team’s defense significantly. The Pacers took advantage of the absence of the Dubs’ floor general.

Stephen Curry scored 25 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists for the Warriors. Klay Thompson had 17 points as rookie Brandin Podziemski also showcased a remarkable performance with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Unfortunately, they weren’t enough to turn the luck of the GSW. Chris Paul’s ejection in the final minutes did not arrive as much help either. With that, the Lakers are once again back in the 10th seed.
