The Warriors’ Draymond Green seems to have become the savior of the team. Not the end result everyone predicted. At all. Of course, Green is still suspended for the next five games. And the Dubs are without their ferocious defender. But somehow, in between all of this, there happens to be a silver lining.

The league decided on this punishment on account of Green’s “history of unsportsmanlike acts”. Which he does have. In addition to this, Dray has also been slapped with a heavy fine.

Green’s fine comes to $769,705. This also happens to provide a $2,597,762 relief to the Golden State as it gives them a tax credit variance of 50% of Green’s total fine. Bobby Marks breaks it down for us.

Not everyone can emerge as a winner. In this scenario, though the Warriors get relief on the monetary side of things, they are down a key player in the coming days. But this is not his first time. Sportrac records 19 ejections in his career and nine suspensions from games.

The total money forfeited amounts to $2,231,780. Clearly, he knows how this works. Even though this is a crucial time for the Dubs Nation, individual choices have consequences. And they are facing it now. We could say that they have emerged as winners and losers. At the same time.

Green’s history of fights

DrayMagic has been thoroughly entertaining fans all over the world for years. And among them, his fights have also provided many laughs. Though many have pissed the NBA world because, of course, who would like it when LeBron gets poked in the eye or Adams gets hit in the groin?

How Much Money Will Draymond Green Lose, Serving 5-Game Suspension?

If not a fan, every man would have felt the pain Steven Adams felt then. That was in 2016. Earlier to this, Green was ejected for elbowing Blake Griffin in the neck area during the 2013 Christmas Day game. In addition to getting an eye poke (2018), during his stint with the Cavs (2016), LeBron endured a groin hit after stepping over the veteran in the NBA Finals.

The infamous Adams altercation was during Game 3 of the Western Conference, again in 2016. He was fined $25,000 for that one. The 2016-17 season saw Dray take a swing at Harden‘s head, which resulted in a flagrant foul. The 2017 Finals was the time for Green’s next victim – Iman Shumpert.

It does look unintentional, but Shumpert was the one on the receiving end and he might disagree. And we move on to an ugly fight with Bradley Beal in the early 2017-18 season. This transitioned into a full-blown fight between teams and both of them were ejected and fined.

Green was not done with Harden yet. Game 1 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals saw Green go for The Beard’s neck this time. Moving to 2018, it was a time when even Coach Kerr had enough of Draymond’s “sh*t”. Not to mention, he got pissed with the then-teammate Durant for not passing the ball.

In 2022, Dray had a serious problem with teammate Poole. After a heated argument, Poole shoved Green, who responded with a punch to the face. This was just before the preseason practice. Not behind Green for trash-talking, Dillon Brooks also got into it with Dray in March 2023.

Dare we say, this looks almost adorable. With that, we come a full circle with Rudy Gobert, who matches Green tit-for-tat. From X trolls to finally getting physical, Gobert definitely got under the former DPOY’s skin. And the result was an elbow chokehold.
