The February 8 trade deadline is only a day away. And the Golden State Warriors have not made any significant moves to improve their roster despite their struggles. It was rumored that the Warriors front office pursued star players like Dejounte Murray throughout the trade window. But there has been no progress in the potential trade. That has left the NBA World wondering if the Warriors have decided to continue with the same group to see how their season pans out.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr also addressed the possibility of no new signings ahead of tomorrow’s trade deadline. “I feel like this group can do something special. I really do. So, if we don’t do anything tomorrow, we feel like we have a good group we can push with,” Kerr said in an interview.

Kerr claimed he has been in constant conversation with Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. regarding the available proposals. But most years, the Warriors do not make any moves despite having several offers on the table.

Steve Kerr also expressed his belief in the current Warriors squad because they have a great mixture of accomplished veterans and exciting young players. Every Warriors player has gone through a lot this season, but they are slowly starting to turn their year around.

Stephen Curry & co. have played great in recent games. They have won 3 of their last 4 games and improved to a 22-25 record. However, the Warriors might not be good enough to contend for the Championship if they decide to make no moves before the trade deadline.

It is evident from their performance that the Warriors are nowhere close to a championship team this season. They have struggled to stay afloat all season and barely stayed at the bottom of the play-in spots.

If the Warriors want to make a deep run in the playoffs this season, they need at least one more superstar to play alongside Stephen Curry. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are no longer the players they once were during the Warriors’ Championship runs. Chris Paul has been out of action for the majority of the season due to an injury. And Steph cannot win his 5th ring alone.

Even if the Warriors want to start a rebuild and bid adieu to the Steph, Klay, and Draymond era, they will need to trade either Klay or Draymond to acquire some assets to build their future. This might be the time for the Warriors front office to reevaluate their future and decide the direction they want to go to.
