Nikola Jokic to Skip FIBA World Cup

While Victor requests his fans for something quirky, he’s vowing to devote himself to pulling up his socks for the upcoming NBA rookie season. And, at the same time, Jokic has news for fans too. After winning his first NBA championship, Nikola Jokic decides to not take part in the upcoming FIBA world cup.

According to a report by Mozzart Sport, Denver Nuggets star Joker is making a tough call to sit out for the next FIBA season. He will not represent Serbia. Despite all efforts by Pesic and Bogdan to persuade him, the two-time MVP chooses to take a break during summers.

The Serbian national team will face substantial difficulties because of Jokic’s choice. Reportedly, Barcelona forward, Nikola Kalini?, along with Vasilije Micic, will also forego the World Cup. This leaves Vasilije Micic, a two-time EuroLeague winner, unsure of his participation.

Micic recently transferred from Anadolu Efes Istanbul to the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder. He seems to be using the summer to get ready for his NBA debut, which is a typical strategy for European players changing to the very competitive NBA. Serbia may suffer a great deal if he is not available because he is a vital player with remarkable court skills.

Everything you need to know about the upcoming World Cup

FIBA World Cup 2023 hosted by Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, starts on August 25 and ends on September 10. This historic tournament marks the first time in the event’s history that it will have multiple hosts. It will be a promising, exciting, and unique basketball spectacle. Moreover, it will be the second World Cup to feature 32 teams.

Team United States finds itself in Group ‘C’ alongside formidable opponents, including Jordan, Greece, and New Zealand.

Following their humbling quarter-final loss to France in 2019, team USA will now seek redemption in a relatively easier group. With their sights set on securing the title, the United States will aim to make a powerful statement in the prestigious basketball event.

Talking about the Serbian National team, coach Svetislav Pesic and the new captain Bogdan Bogdanovic will announce the official Serbian NT roster on Monday. Prior to this, Bogdan was also the Atlanta Hawks guard.

Currently, their lineup for the forthcoming competition is uncertain because of Jokic’s and other probable players’ absence.
