The Cleveland Cavaliers are playing their 11th match of the season against the Miami Heat today. However, what was supposed to be a high-octane showdown has left fans worried when they saw Cavs’ star guard, Donovan Mitchell, heading to the locker room. But what exactly happened?

As per reports, Mitchell had to leave the court due to a laceration. A laceration is essentially a cut or tear in the skin, typically caused by a sharp object or impact. But there wasn’t any update on the severity or which part of Mitchell’s body was affected.

Being a key offensive engine for the Cavs this season, his unplanned exit raises immediate concerns for Cleveland. The timing is particularly tricky as the Cavaliers battle the Heat in a tightly contested clash, and his absence can mean a fourth loss for the franchise so far.

The 6-foot-2-inch tall star is currently averaging 30.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game, while leading his team on both ends of the floor. Fortunately, as per the latest reports, Mitchell returned to the game, easing any speculations about his injuries. And with him on the floor for 41 minutes of the game, the Cavaliers were competitive throughout.

Despite Mitchell’s return, Cleveland couldn’t close the deal in a wild OT thriller. Before 19,600 at Kaseya Center, the Heat held on for a 140-138 victory.

Donovan Mitchell piled up 28 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists, and with 0.4 seconds left in overtime, he buried a long triple to tie the game- only for Andrew Wiggins to catch a perfect inbound lob from Nikola Jovic and slam home the winner.

The Cavaliers lost a battle of momentum, with Jarrett Allen’s rebounding output hindered by his finger issue and the front-court duo unable to pivot late.

However, even with another loss under their belt, still, fans can take comfort in knowing that nothing serious happened to Donovan Mitchell and he will continue to lead the Cavs as they will gear up to play the Miami Heat again in their next game on November 12th at Kaseya Center.

While fans breathed a sigh of relief seeing Mitchell return, the Cavaliers faced another blow as All-Star guard Darius Garland was forced to exit and did not return for the remainder of the game.

What Happened to Darius Garland?

The Cavaliers faced yet another setback in their matchup against the Heat as All-Star point guard Darius Garland was forced to leave the court due to a left toe injury. Garland, who had just returned to action on Wednesday after offseason surgery on the same toe, took an intentional foul in the second half of the game before heading straight to the locker room.

Garland showed signs of discomfort in both halves of the game. He was seen limping briefly during the first half, but the guard continued to play. However, the second flare-up proved too much, forcing him to make an intentional foul to exit and not return for the remainder of the matchup. The Cavaliers announced that Garland will be reevaluated after the game.

Though no immediate update on the severity of the injury has been provided. This development comes after a challenging offseason for Garland, who underwent surgery in early June to address a turf toe issue that had previously sidelined him.

Darius Garland is currently averaging 14 points, 2 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game, and if this turns into a serious injury, it could complicate Cleveland’s rotation, especially as they rely on Garland’s scoring, playmaking, and leadership to complement Donovan Mitchell in high-stakes games.
