The fans at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse gasped as Tyrese Haliburton slipped for the second time while driving in the paint. The Pacers star was trying to fake out Derrick White with a quick pace change during a layup attempt. Haliburton’s shoe slipped on the play, and he did a big split, pulling his groin and hamstring. He immediately held his hamstring and started rolling on the floor, writhing in pain. The 23-year-old tried to walk it off but failed. He was eventually carried to the locker room by his teammates while he held his head down in tears.

Can the Indiana Pacers hold their own in Haliburton’s absence?

If Haliburton stays out of action because of tonight’s horrific injury scare, the rest of the Indiana Pacers squad will need to step up their game to keep them afloat. Haliburton has led the Pacers to the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference standings with a 20-15 record. And the Pacers cannot let his effort go in vain. A lot of the Pacers’ success will rely on the performance of their other stars, including Myles Turner, Bennedict Mathurin, and Buddy Hield.

The Pacers held their own tonight after Haliburton left the game due to injury. They played great in the second half and mustered an incredible comeback against the best team in the East. However, the Celtics were also missing their best player, Jayson Tatum, as he was out due to injury management. The Pacers need to play like they did tonight in Haliburton’s absence. They need to prepare for the worst-case scenario and focus on the upcoming games.
