Who Is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Wife Hailey Summers? Know More About the NBA Star’s Famous Soccer Life Partner

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been unstoppable this season. The Canadian hooper has averaged more than 30 points for the second straight season. To top it off, after six seasons in the NBA, Shai has been named as a starter for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game. However, his year got even better when he dropped the bomb about his low-key marriage with long-time girlfriend Hailey Summers on Valentine’s Day.

The couple announced their engagement in June last year. For the most part, they have kept their relationship private, and the shocking announcement took everyone by surprise. Interestingly, Hailey, like Shai, is a seasoned athlete herself, who played soccer at a high level and has multiple accolades under her belt.

Hailey Summers was the captain of her college soccer team

Hailey was born on October 22, 1999, in Ontario, Canada. She is an alumna of St. Mary School, where she played soccer and was part of the school girls’ football team that won an indoor Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic Association title. In high school, Hailey dabbled in basketball and won many titles for the school. However, in college, she turned all her focus on soccer. She left Canada to enroll at the University of Albany in New York to study Psychology.

Here, she played collegiate soccer for the Great Danes women’s team as a center defense. Hailey was also named the America-East All-Rookie during her time in Albany. In 2018, the team took home the America East Women’s Soccer Championship. She also served as the team captain from 2018-2021, after which she hung up the boots of her soccer career.

How did Hailey and Shai meet?

It is widely believed that they met in school, where they became close friends as a result of being in the same friend circle. After a few years, the two began dating in 2016, and have been going strong ever since. In an exciting announcement last year, Hailey and Shai revealed that they were expecting a baby by sharing a photo on Instagram that showed Hailey’s baby bump.

The photo shows Hailey flaunting her baby bump while Shai holds her from behind sporting the smile of a proud father-to-be. The two undoubtedly share a wonderful relationship which is evident from their Instagram posts about each other. Moreover, Hailey often shows up to Shai’s NBA games to cheer him on from the sidelines.
