His success ratio of winning 3/8 championships in the run isn’t as good as the tenacity to continue trying. In fact, the basketball world considers the 3-1 comeback in the 2016 championship win as the greatest comeback in the history of the game.

In a recent interview with Warriors star on ‘Podcast P with Paul George’ Draymond Green appeared as a guest on the show. Paul George asked Green if he still thinks about game seven. It was the game where they played against the Cavs; where he delivered an extraordinary performance but their team lost.

Draymond reflects on that game and considers it the biggest teaser of his life. He had an amazing performance with almost a triple-double, and if they had won, he might have been the Finals MVP. However, he questions if he truly deserved it because they shouldn’t have let the series go to game seven.

He optimistically said, “When I look at that, it’s like the greatest teaser of my life, I had 32Pts, 15 Reb, 9Asst. And if we win that game, I’m the Finals MVP, but did I really deserve it, cause we never should’ve been in a game seven. But if we never went that far, do I then win a Finals MVP if we finish it in five?”

But his optimism didn’t end there, he went further to express what changed in him after the loss.

He still wonders how his mindset would have changed if they had won earlier and if being the Finals MVP would have affected his humility.

Draymond considers it the greatest “what-if” moment in his life and thinks about how it would have been talked about forever if they had won and he became the Finals MVP. Green added, “Because me being as humble as I’ve been in my situation or what I’ve been to this team, is the reason I’ll make the Hall of Fame.”

Green recently signed a four-year, $100M contract extension with the Warriors. This arose rumours surrounding the Green-James union in LA. All these rumors were put to rest after Dub Nation signed him into a new contract. Agent, B. J. Armstrong represented the 4x NBA All-Star before he cut ties with him and signed with Klutch Sports in 2019. Signing with star agent Rich Paul, who represents James as well, wouldn’t have been possible if Green and James hadn’t grown a bond and respect for each other.

The Warriors forward recently admitted how he jumped from an “I hate you mindset.” Now that he grew from his mindset, he advocates for James’ greatness. And in various conversations, he considered James as the GOAT.
