$10,000 Gift From Family Friend Kept NBA All-Star Jayson Tatum From Being Homeless: “God Had Spoke to Her..”

The three-time NBA All-Star Jayson Tatum is arguably one of the most promising players in the league today. Tatum’s performances have helped make his name into the All-NBA First Team of 2022. Rated as a five-star recruit, he was one of the best prospects of 2016 coming out of high school.

However, Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum grew up with struggles and hardships throughout his life. Recently in a podcast with Graham Bensinger, Tatum expressed what kind of challenge he faced while growing up.

It might look like he is living lavishly now, but a few years ago, it was completely the opposite. Tatum, along with his mother, was going through a tough time. With his single mother working long hours to try and provide, their day-to-day survival became a problem. They had a constant fear of the electricity cutting off or the water supply being stopped. They were also in constant fear of getting evicted from their house. And this fear turned into reality when Tatum and his mother got a notice to leave the house within 30 days.

Melanie, a late friend of her mother’s from law school, came to the rescue of Tatum and his mom. She helped the family with a $10,000 check which was needed to stop the eviction. Tatum recalled that: “God had spoke to her… and she just felt that like we needed it”.

Jayson Tatum went on to play college basketball at Duke University in 2016, before opting for the NBA draft after his freshman year.

Tatum was then selected as the third overall pick of the 2017 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics. The three-time All-Star led the Celtics to the 2022 NBA Finals, where they just missed out after losing 4-2 to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Jayson Tatum currently is one of the key players of the Boston Celtics. With an average of  32.4 points, 3.6 assists, and 8 rebounds in five games, Tatum has had a good start to the season so far.
