And following this historic night, the Shoe Surgeon crafted something special to commemorate James’ feat.

Notably, Dominic Ciambrone goes by the name Shoe Surgeon in the sneaker world. A self-taught cobbler, Ciambrone broke into the news cycle by customizing sneakers and luxury wear with unique and hip designs. As the buzz around his customizations got louder, he received collaboration requests from big companies like Nike. And one of their collaboration involved LeBron James.

To celebrate LeBron James‘ 30,000 points feat, Nike reached out to Ciambrone. They wanted him to customize the Nike LeBron 15s with 24-karat gold-plated crocodile skin. However, Ciambrone had more tricks up his sleeve. He designed a shoe with zippers containing 14 grams of gold and 5.8-carat diamond laces.

Ciambrone went beyond his call of duty and designed something spectacular. His efforts paid off when the 4-time NBA champ acknowledged him. In an interview with Maxim, Ciambrone said, “I saw Bron about six months later at a fashion show — he was hyped and gave me props and love for it, so I felt like it was a job well done.”

For Ciambrone, this was the most “pivotal moment” for his brand and him. The value of these shoes was around $100,000. Following this, the value of the Nike LeBron 15s increased in the sneaker world as people wouldn’t stop talking about it. Despite being a gift for King James, this customization showed James’ impact not just as an athlete but also as a brand.

Away from basketball, with endorsements like a lifetime deal with Nike and other philanthropic ventures, James has accumulated a sum of $900 million. In an interview with GQ, James confessed that becoming a billionaire was his biggest milestone. Now, he has achieved this milestone as well.
