If you’ve watched the Chicago Bulls this season, then you know that there’s one name that has stood out among the rest. That name is none other than DeMar DeRozan. With the help of DeRozan, the Bulls have enjoyed an extremely successful season so far despite the injuries to Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso. In light of DeRozan’s performances, he has been called by many as the league MVP. This is especially true for Chicago fans. However, winning the award is not easy. Apart from being matched up against every player in the league, DeRozan must also go up against names like LeBron James and Kevin Durant. These big names have always been a part of the MVP race for several years now. This is what Bulls’ rookie Ayo Dosunmu explained in a recent interview.
Ayo Dosunmu on DeMar DeRozan
Dosunmu began by explaining how DeRozan has helped him grow as a player by making him understand the ‘next play mentality’. He then spoke about DeRozan being the best player in the NBA.
“I think he’s definitely the best player in the NBA for sure,” said Dosunmu.
“I mean, of course you got some guys who are so good, they’re automatically going to be there. You know LeBron, KD, those guys,” added Dosunmu.

Thereafter, Dosunmu explained that DeRozan still stood tall in the MVP race in his opinion because of what the latter has given to the team in tough situations. He then added the following as further evidence of DeRozan’s performances.
“Anytime you do something that hasn’t been done since Wilt, it’s something that is good. So, definitely I think he’s playing the best basketball right now in the NBA.”

It is evident from Dosunmu’s statements that guys like LeBron and KD will always be a part of the MVP race due to their consistency. So if DeRozan was to be named as the MVP, he’d have to edge out both LeBron and Durant. This might be difficult, but it’s not impossible.
In fact, he currently sits above both stars in the MVP race. This season, DeRozan has averaged 28.3 points while shooting over 50% from the field. He definitely is a scoring machine, especially in the clutch! So as long as DeRozan continues his heroics, the sky is the limit for him and the Bulls.
