Dennis Rodman is one of the most eccentric personalities in the history of the NBA. The five-time champion mastered his role on the court and was a crucial part of his team’s success. However, Rodman struggled with suicidal thoughts when he was still part of the Detroit Pistons.
He had made up his mind to take his own life, but he fell asleep before he could harm himself. That lucky escape proved to be vital as he went on to win a three-pear with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. However, that night could have been very different had the radio played songs from some other rock band.

Rodman revealed in an interview how that night panned out for the seven-time rebounding champion. As he was waiting in his car with a gun in his hands, he decided to turn on the radio. “All of a sudden, I decided to turn on the radio or the CD player, whatever, and it was Pearl Jam playing“, revealed Rodman.
Asked why it was that band, in particular, Rodman replied, “Because I like the group and it so happened to be in there.” He listened to the first song and then his favorite came on. He said, “All of a sudden while I was listening to Pearl Jam and then ‘Black‘ came on, I just started to close my eyes and just started thinking about, you know, and I fell asleep.”
