NBA legends Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley have always had a rivalry between them going back to their playing days in the NBA. Even now on the sets of ‘Inside the NBA’, both of them can be found squabbling and pulling each other’s leg. Similarly, a game of golf in 2010 also unfolded a story of a squabble between them.

The golf game was a part of the challenge-based reality show, ‘Shaq Vs.,‘ which ran on the ABC Network from 2009-10. It was a show which consisted of a total of two seasons with each season getting five episodes. The main purpose of the show was that the Los Angeles Lakers legend would take on any sports personality in their respective games.

Though the first season went poorly for Shaq as he lost in all five episodes, he turned things around in the second season. And in this second season, the game of golf between the two NBA powerhouses took place, prompting Barkley to utter a few words about Shaq.

In a broadcast of ESPN’s SportsCenter, Josh Elliot showed a clip of an episode of ‘Shaq Vs,.’ where both Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley could be seen warming up for their upcoming game. In addition to that, it also showed a few candid moments between the two close friends, which is when the trash-talking started spewing.

The Big Diesel said that Barkley was the worst golf player on the internet. In response, the 11-time All-Star said, “It’s called ‘Shaq Vs.’ — but you lose all the time. It should be called ‘Shaq Loses’”. 

Though Barkley responded with his words, he was not able to respond on the golf course as he and Bubba Watson went on to lose the game against the duo of Shaquille O’Neal and Anthony Kim. In the end, Shaq got the win over his sparring partner.

Charles Barkley and NBA fans will likely be hoping for a re-match very soon.
