In a recent conversation with The Athletic, Curry responded to the comments made by these critics. He had an amazing response about why he was not apologetic about his unique style of playing.

“I’ll get tagged on something on social media, like, ‘You ruined the game,’” Curry said. “Anybody who knows basketball knows where I stand on that. It’s an amazing way to play the game. It opens up the creative. Everybody loves to shoot the ball. But you can’t skip the work and years and years and years and years of reps that I put in and everybody on this level has. So, don’t skip that process. It is a fun way to play, and it’s dope to know that everybody feels an attachment to it.”

Why Stephen Curry shouldn’t be apologetic

Over the course of his career, Curry has revolutionized the game from behind the arc. In the previous decades, players preferred to take non-contested or wide open threes. However, ever since Curry has made an impact on the game, this has completely changed.

With his extremely good ball handling, Curry tries to break off defenders using his skills. He is also extremely confident in his long-range shots, such as from near the half court. Curry has a quick release and loves to catch-and-shoot the ball.

Curry has a career three-point shooting percentage of 43 percent, and he shattered the all-time three-point record in December. A player like Curry should have to make no apologies in his quest to become the greatest shooter of all time, a feat some people would say he has already accomplished.

“People are going to talk s***,” Curry said. “Hate and love and criticism and celebration — everything. That’s why I stay so even keel.”

The impact of Stephen Curry’s playing style

Ever since Stephen Curry rose to the top ranks of the NBA, people have been copying his game style. This stretches from youth basketball games to the NBA. All teams and players now put a lot of emphasis on three-point shooting. However, a lot of people still believe that such a high dependence on 3-point shooting is not healthy for the game.
