Shaq once tried to help former NBA player Stanley Roberts with a big wad of cash to help him get out of hard times. The Diesel probably inherited this characteristic when he was growing up under the guidance of his father.

Stanley Roberts was one of the closest friends of Shaquille O’Neal during their time in college. Shaq revealed an incident when he met with Roberts after a long period of time during his DJ set last year. The Diesel recalled how both of them hugged together when they first met.

However, Roberts declined just like the way he did back 20 years ago when O’Neal tried to help him with a big wad of cash when the 7′ giant was out of the NBA and didn’t have any work. Shaq remembered how Roberts refused his help despite being in trouble. However, Shaq had forced a wad of cash on him. “Twenty years ago, when Roberts was out of the NBA, out of work, out of money, O’Neal took him to dinner in Los Angeles and handed him an envelope stuffed with cash,” revealed a recent report. However, Roberts had passionately refused to take the money.

Stanley Roberts was one of the best prospects of the NBA when he got drafted in the first round of the 1991 draft. He was among the top 5 in the country when he attended Lower Richmond High School. He further went on to play college basketball with Shaquille O’Neal at Louisiana State University. Everyone predicted that he would surpass Shaquille O’Neal but fate had some other plans. Dale Brown told ‘The State’, “He was actually better than Shaquille O’Neal.”

His NBA career was short-lived, only lasting around nine years. Roberts was not able to reach his full potential after injuries plagued his career. And suddenly his career also came to an end after a failed drug test in 1999.
