The Phoenix Suns are arguably in a good position right now. They have a star in Devin Booker who will likely carry the franchise for years to come. They have one of the great point guards in Chris Paul. And their center, DeAndre Ayton is slowly blossoming into a scorer rather than just a defender over the years. The Suns are currently 3-1 in the Western Conference, tying them with a couple of other teams as well.

It is not often that ownership of a franchise changes hands. Most recently, Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade joined the ownership group of Jazz Basketball Inventors as he became part owner of the Utah Jazz.

The Phoenix Suns are changing hands

Now it seems like the Phoenix Suns franchise is up for grabs. The majority owner of the team, Robert Sarver who owns 35% of the Suns, recently announced that he plans to sell the team. Sarver bought the team for $400 million back in 2004. And according to Forbes, the team was estimated at $1.8 billion in October 2021.

The former US president on the sidelines

While some fans don’t seem too happy about the idea, others seem to be fine with it.

Notably, Obama won’t be the team’s sole owner like Robert Sarver was. He is reportedly involved with a group of people who are interested in buying the Phoenix Suns. Although, it would be exciting to see a former president on the sidelines of NBA games every now and then.
