Over the course of history, the NBA has seen some iconic duos. The one-two punch has run the league for the longest time. However, not many duos match up equally. An exception came up to be Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Surprisingly, Klay revealed that the splash brothers didn’t get to know each other until their third year in the NBA.

The Splash Brothers have come up as one of the deadliest duos in the entire league. For almost a decade, they have broken the barriers of shooting together. Constantly competing for the title of the best, these two work together like an engine in a car. Moreover, their off-court relationship has also grown immensely while dominating the league.

However, as a shock to most, it was not a connection at first sight. Curry and Klay had to wait until 2014, when they played together for the USA to start their relationship.

The long wait for Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson

When it comes to duos, Klay and Steph are among the best. They have won three championships together while breaking countless records. Splashing all over the three-point records, the NBA had never seen such perimeter threat. While the two are now almost like brothers, Klay revealed that wasn’t always the case. While chatting with Malika Andrews, the splash brother revealed it took golf and sangria for them to bond together.

He said: “We really didn’t get to know each other until about our third year in the league. Both very quiet and I think this trip with USA basketball to Spain, we played a lot of golf, drank some Sangria in Barcelona. And I think he would say the same but that summer of 2014 kind of glued us together. We just became good friends after that. There’s a lot of things we do on the court that seems to be in sync with each other. We don’t think about it, it’s just like second nature.

They both are a perfect balance for each other. One makes up for the other’s weaknesses. Both elite shooters changed the entire dynamics of duos in today’s league.
