JR Smith has certainly taken a reverse route to his college days after a 16-season NBA career. The former star is a student once again and it only seems fair to say that he’s made an interesting decision.

After winning his NBA career’s second championship with the Lakers, Smith is off to North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University. He has chosen to get back with books and is pursuing a liberal arts degree at the age of 35 years.

NCAA recently cleared JR Smith to play golf at the university level. The 2-time NBA champion will be trying his hand in the North Carolina A&T Aggies golf team. This news has gotten his former colleagues quite excited. His recent teammate LeBron James and NBA’s scoring juggernaut Stephen Curry have reacted to his new beginnings.

Smith goes from NBA basketball to college golf

Back in his basketball days, Smith played alongside numerous bigwigs and was part of banner franchises. From getting drafted by the New Orlean Hornets to Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and lastly LA Lakers. He was also named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2013.

The former NBA veteran has changed his ways drastically to get into student life. From thousands watching him make those layups, now Smith will be busy submitting assignments. Now, he has chosen golf after 12 years of association with the sport. Well, that’s probably how he received a green flag into the college first division team. Additionally, LeBron and Steph are surely happy about Smith’s ‘athlete/student’ title.
