The Mavericks added Irving to the roster to have an advantage over other franchises in the league. However, the combination of Luka Doncic and the Ankletaker didn’t quite work on the hardwood. This eventually made the Mavs fall from grace. However, the now 31-year-old is apparently not worried about this current situation and his recent words made it clear his trade to the Mavs was for the long term.

Mavs_FFL on Twitter shared what Irving said about his current situation. The 2016 NBA champion said, “This was for the long term, and this was for something that’s bigger than ourselves and we can’t just be a championship team overnight.”
