Ja Morant’s teammate, Jaren Jackson Jr. mocked the Golden State Warriors by tweeting their slogan, “Strength in Numbers” with a clapping emoji when they beat the Warriors on March 29, 2022. However, a certain star of the Warriors clearly didn’t appreciate his remarks and gave a befitting reply three months later. Recently, NBA fans took a dig at the said star by digging up what he had said, just a day after the Grizzlies center won an award.

Last year, after winning the championship, Klay Thompson kept his celebrations aside and decided to hit back at Jackson Jr. while addressing the media. The five-time All-Star said, “There is this one player on the Grizzlies who tweeted, ‘Strength in numbers’ after they beat us in the regular season and it pissed me off so much. I can’t wait to retweet that thing. F_ bum.”

The Golden State Warriors guard further added, “That I had to watch that – I was like, ‘This f_ clown. Okay. Okay. Okay. Sorry, that memory just popped up. Going to mock us? Like, you ain’t ever been there before, bro. We been there. We know what it takes. So to be here again: Hold that.”  Thompson and the Warriors shut down their haters in style by winning their fourth championship. But almost a year later, he has been subjected to criticism online as the tides seemed to have turned.

Jackson Jr. recently won the Hakeem Olajuwon trophy as the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year. The Memphis Grizzlies center won this award primarily because he is the best rim protector in the league — putting up an NBA-best three blocks per game. Thompson, on the other hand, has a plethora of honors besides his name – NBA champion, NBA All-Star, All-NBA Third Team, Olympic Gold Medalist, and many others.

However, he wasn’t lucky enough to win any individual awards over the years despite being a player who could turnaround a game at any point in time. Big Smokey having a disadvantage in the department of individual trophies gave some fans an opportunity to slam him. One fan resurfaced Klay’s ‘Bum’ comment and said, “”Freaking Bum’ officially has more individual accomplishments than Klay Thompson has had in his entire career.” 

A lot of other Twitter users called out the Warriors forward in the comment section.
