It was only 10 years since Mark Cuban bought a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks that the franchise won its first and only title in 2011. Led by Dirk Nowitzki, the Mavs defeated the then newly assembled Miami Heat in 6 games. In fact, since the Cuban takeover, the Mavs have been to the finals twice.

The main reason why basketball games are won is because of the players playing the game, and Mark Cuban, as the owner of the Mavs, has always aided this fact. In fact, ever since the billionaire became the owner, the Mavs have always been a Western Conference powerhouse. Today, they stand tall with the help of their new star, Luka Doncic. In fact, it is these strong performances and the 2011 victory that Hollywood superstar, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, made use of to get Mark Cuban to appear on the show ‘Super Pumped.’

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Convinces Dallas Mavericks’ Owner Mark Cuban

As part of the upcoming anthology series ‘Super Pumped’, Joseph Gordon-Levitt tried to get Mark Cuban to act in the show. He recorded a video explaining how big of a fan of Cuban he was and mentioned how much it would mean to him if Cuban appeared on the show. Levitt then sent this video to Cuban in hopes of a positive response.

In return, Cuban too recorded a video praising Levitt. However, he added that Levitt would have to ‘kiss up’ more if he were to appear on the show. In response, Levitt, who is a Lakers fan, recorded a video praising the Mavs.

“I was born and raised in LA. Grew up watching Magic and Kareem, listening to Chick Hearn,” said Levitt, explaining his fandom for the Lakers.

Thereafter, he put on a Mavericks hat and began praising the franchise.

“Go Mavs! Back in 2011, Western Conference Finals, the better team won. Dirk Nowitzki is amazing. Go Mavs! Go Mavs! And have you seen their owner? So handsome and intelligent,” said Levitt so as to ‘kiss up’ to Cuban.

As Levitt hoped, the second video proved to be a success and Mark Cuban did in fact appear on ‘Super Pumped.’ The first season of the show deals with the rise and fall of former Uber CEO, Travis Kalanick. This is the character that Levitt plays in the show. In fact, there was an incident involving Cuban and Kalanick where the former chose not to invest in Uber. So it makes perfect sense as to why Levitt wanted Cuban to appear on the show.
