Right after LeBron James’ 50 point performance over the Wizards, his Lakers would fall short to the Phoenix Suns. In devastating fashion, the Suns blew out the ‘Purple and Gold’ by 29 points. This loss for the Lakers means that they now have a record of 29-38 and have the New Orleans Pelicans closing in on them.

Although LeBron had a strong game on a personal level, the rest of them did not complement his performance. Evidently, his 31 point performance went in vain. This has led to several fans claiming that the King needs help from another superstar. Clearly, with Anthony Davis out, LeBron’s load has increased, but the rest of the squad has not stepped up to share the weight.

Fans React to LeBron James and the Blowout
The loss seemed to drain the hopes of Lakers fans. This is true because a blowout was unexpected. Some fans felt that LeBron needs another superstar to support and contribute to the team along with him.
The Lakers are 0-7 since the All-Star break when LeBron doesn't score 50.
If ONLY Lebron had a Pippen or Shaq to help carry the load.

Reminder that once again the Suns only beat the Lakers because they did not have Anthony Davis. Suns have no answer for AD. Ex: playoffs last year Lakers were up 2-1 with AD and destroying them until he got hurt. Suns can only beat injured teams and it’s kind of embarrassing..

Additionally, many fans are losing hope and feel that the season is done. Moreover, they felt that the ‘King’ is required to score huge numbers in order to win.

A 29 point loss to last year’s finalists shows the level at which the Lakers are playing at. Moreover, LeBron, although puts up strong numbers, cannot change the course of the franchise. Fans believe that the nosedive will continue unless the ‘King’ gets some help from another star.

Comparing the Duos
Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan formed an interesting partnership in Chicago. In fact, without Pippen, Jordan never won a title. While MJ handled the scoring department, Pippen supported him in both scoring and assists. Moreover, Pippen was also a much better three-point shooter. Together, they brought 6 titles to Chicago.

The Kobe-Shaq Lakers dominated the NBA for multiple years. Unlike Pippen and Jordan, both Kobe and Shaq were dominant scorers. However, Shaq contributed on the rebounding front, while Kobe helped with the assists. Their efforts brought the Lakers 3 titles in a row and kept the franchise among the top teams of the NBA.

The same was expected from LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Although the duo did win a title, they have never been able to repeat that success. In fact, AD’s injury this season meant that LeBron has had to carry the load for his team. So maybe Davis’ return will help LeBron. Regardless, it seems too late to make an entry in the top 8 of the West. With the season on the line, the Lakers must win as many games as possible for an entry into the postseason.
