The scuffle did not seem that intense. Maybe it didn’t warrant a move as extreme as ejection. The Raptors, who were already without Van Vleet, Birch, and Barnes, are now down another man. Even though the Raptors won, Justin’s absence on the court was noted.

Before being ejected, Justin had 2 rebounds and 1 assist. On the other hand, PJ Washington had 3 points. After the scuffle took place, there were huge eruptions on Twitter as fans and speculators gave their opinions.

Fan reactions and Twitter meltdown

Fans on Twitter have called it bad judgment on part of the referees. As it can be seen on video, it was Justin who barged into Washington with his shoulder. Chiefly, fans are of the opinion that only Justin should have been ejected. PJ Washington did not initiate the altercation and was just reacting to the aggressive move by Justin.

Other fans are of the opinion that it was PJ Washington who started the scuffle by blocking Justin’s runway in the previous play. This caused Justin to trip and fall down.

Even though the scuffle was a little aggressive, it is true that the NBA has gotten softer. There was no need to eject the players after this incident. A technical foul would have been sufficient in the eyes of many fans.
