Kwame Brown criticized Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by making a bold claim. He suggested that the two-time Finals MVP was quite similar to Kyrie Irving during his NBA days. Brown reminded Kareem that the media used to hate him and created similar narratives as they did around Kyrie Irving. Kwame Brown said, “I wouldn’t even want to say nothing if I was him. Just knowing how they did me, I wouldn’t even want to say nothing.”
Moreover, the former NBA veteran suggested that when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar began taking a stand against the wrong, the media could not stand him. Brown also believes that the Lakers legend would have received the same kind of backlash for his viewpoints and religion if the media was as powerful and widely televised back in the day.
