In terms of perimeter defending, Corey Brewer was one of the best defenders in the league. The former small forward spoke about guarding Kobe Bryant in his prime.

“You never forget the first time you played against Kobe Bryant. For me, it was in my rookie year in Minnesota and he dropped 30 on us. When he stepped on the court, just his swag, his whole demeanor, made me feel like, “Damn, this is Kobe Bryant!”

“Kobe was a nightmare to guard. Seriously. He knew what he wanted to do, and I couldn’t make him do anything different. He had a plan, and he executed it and was amazing, man. Unbelievable. Kobe would make so many difficult shots and I’d just be amazed,” said Brewer.

Of course, Brewer is right. Kobe is one of the best players in the league. His ability to win and the determination he possessed are incredible.

In spite of all the criticism he faced for shooting the ball a lot, Bryant was a winner. Moreover, he was prepared to go at all costs to win games. The ability to pick yourself up every time you miss a shot is amazing; and that’s what the Lakers legend did for a long time.

The shooting ability he possessed was in full flow during the 2005-06 season. Bryant scored 35.4 points per game in an incredible display of offensive skill set. Although he took a lot of shots, the Mamba trusted in his ability to take games by the scruff of the neck.

Brewer learned that when he faced him. The legacy of Bryant is incredible. Fans should applaud the will to win and the steely resolve to keep going. Thus, Bryant will always be a legend in many people’s eyes.
