Things didn’t go well for the Los Angeles Lakers last season. With Anthony Davis being unfit most of the time, King James could not carry the team forward to a victory. Thus, the Phoenix Suns handed them a first-round playoff loss to send LeBron and co home. But, with the signing of Westbrook, they have a trio of superstars who are hungry to win a title. LeBron wants his fifth, Davis wants his second while Westbrook is aiming to get his first. However, Davis spoke about how the team was not ready yet.

Anthony Davis wants the Lakers to focus

After missing out on a lot of games last season with an injury, Davis is back. Achieving full fitness will be crucial for him, as he is a key component of the team. However, the power forward/center spoke about how the team is not ready and a lot of work is there to be done. A tweet revealed the cause of concern put forward by AD.

“Offense will come. We’re not too worried about it. We’ve got to do a better job defensively, especially blocking out,” said Davis.

The lack of size was clear in their game against the Suns. When Anthony went off injured, the team found it hard to box out and get rebounds. James was a constant problem for the opposition, but other players did not step up. Utilizing DeAndre Jordan and Dwight Howard would have helped the team to get in some size in the center position.

Although there are many superstars available, AD is, according to many, the heart of the team.

Can he stay fit?

Davis’ skills and physical attributes make him one of the most dangerous players in the game. James is getting old and despite being fit and ready to play, the size advantage that AD provides is priceless. His rebounding is a big factor for the team. He averages 10.2 rebounds per game till now.

While focusing on the defense, the big man talked about the offensive situation as well. Nevertheless, there are no doubts in his mind regarding the offensive ability of the team. With Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony, they have a couple of elite shooters amongst their ranks. Both the aforementioned players can put points on the board in an instant and this may be the reason that Davis seems less worried regarding the offensive side of things.

With all the experience and leadership in the squad, this squad will hope to dig deep this time around and finish the season right on top.
