Renowned billionaire Elon Musk recently took over America’s biggest social media platform Twitter. The business magnate has subsequently found himself in a series of controversies involving Twitter, including the firing and rehiring of the social media platform’s employees. Recently Musk posted a tweet in response to San Francisco’s Department of Building Inspection launching an investigation regarding a complaint against Twitter. Now, Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has slammed Elon Musk with a $100 million donation tip.

On December 13, the SF’s Building Inspection Department responded against a complaint claiming that Twitter has developed makeshift bedrooms for its employees at its headquarters in the city. The in-office bedrooms are believed to be a part of Musk’s efforts to ‘instill a hardcore culture’ at Twitter. Musk responded to the investigation in the form of a heated tweet, firing back at the city authorities.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar calls out Elon Musk

The Los Angeles Lakers legend claimed that Musk’s tweet made no logical sense, deeming it a ‘false dilemma’. He suggested that the SpaceX CEO might be trying to present his option as the only one despite the availability of other possibilities.

Kareem further stated that people needed to be able to differentiate between true criticism and self-benefitting criticism of the government. He believed that several people use government criticism to serve ‘personal animosity’ and to deflect personal responsibilty.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar added, “We see many rich and powerful people attacking government institutions, creating a general impression of incompetence or that they are the victims of political vengeance. People are already predisposed to fear/be annoyed with/make fun of government agencies because of this unchecked criticism.”

But we have to distinguish between personal animosity because someone didn’t get their own way and true government misconduct. Otherwise, we allow an undeserved anti-government attitude to build making it ripe for January 6-type insurrectionists to act based on bad logic, no facts, and no idea of the consequences,” he added.

The two-time Finals MVP argued that anti-government criticism based on bad logic, missing facts, and lack of knowledge about consequences could lead to serious repercussions. Thus, Kareem was unhappy about Musk’s comments against the Building Inspection Department and believed it to be a deflection tactic against criticism.

Kareem’s tip to Elon Musk

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar indicated that the Department of Building Inspection had many issues to deal with, including safe housing. He reckoned that the Building Inspection officials were doing their job by launching an investigation into Twitter. Moreover, the six-time NBA champ argued that the department’s job was to protect people from illegal building practices, not fight against drug abuse.

Additionally, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wrote, “Going after fentanyl is the job of the police. As the world’s richest man, Musk could donate $100 million to the SFPD to fight the fentanyl problem.”

Kareem advised Musk to donate $100 million from his massive fortune to the San Francisco Police Department, which would benefit their fight against fentanyl in the city, instead of lecturing other departments.

Elsewhere, Musk vented his frustrations on Twitter after the investigation kicked off. He claimed that the city of San Francisco needed to protect its kids from fentanyl. Musk argued that, instead, they were attacking companies providing beds to their tired employees.

The Tesla CEO also added a link to the article that reported that a ten months kid might have died of an accidental fentanyl overdose at an SF playground. But Kareem was unimpressed by Musk’s take and responded in a harsh manner.
